It was in 1917 that the name “Mirro” was debuted to kick off the company’s brand-new line of high-quality articles.

At that point, the Goods acquired the production facilities of the Standard Aluminum Company, also located in Two Rivers. According to some estimations, that last category alone sold over one million units. Then, upon the United States’ joining the First World War, the company turned to the manufacturing of products with which to supply the military, including cooking utensils, mess kits, and canteens.

By 1915, the company had secured a big automobile hubcap contract. It was a watershed moment for Aluminum Goods.Ī new line of pots and pans prompted the founders to come up with a new brand name-“VIKO,” from “VI” for Vits and “KO” for Koenig. That year, however, the company first undertook the mass production of utensils and crafted what would prove to be an immensely successful double boiler design for the Quaker Oats Company. Until 1913, the Aluminum Goods business model had focused primarily on manufacturing and selling novelty items, especially aluminum combs.
